IntraLase Procedure Improves Safety and Vision
WINNIPEG, Jan. 25 /CNW/ - IMAGE PLUS Laser Eye Centre is the
first clinic in Manitoba to offer the IntraLase procedure to
meet growing demand for improved safety and visual results.
The new bladeless IntraLase (R) laser replaces the surgical
blade traditionally used to create the corneal flap before each
LASIK procedure. Evidence from multiple peer-reviewed papers
and over 500,000 procedures proves that the silent, computer-guided
IntraLase laser creates a much more precise flap, delivering
micron-level accuracy proved to be significantly greater than
that of a traditional surgical blade.
"With the IntraLase laser, we have seen a more rapid vision
recovery with
improved safety," stated Dr. James Wiens, Medical Director
of IMAGE PLUS Laser
Eye Centre.
IMAGE PLUS currently uses the IntraLase FS30 laser, the latest
generation in IntraLase laser technology. The new FS30 model
completely and cleanly resects the corneal surface. The flap
gently lifts away, revealing a smoother corneal surface, ideal
for performing the LASIK procedure.
"The degree of accuracy is unprecedented," said Dr.
James Wiens. "The flap created by in the IntraLase laser
is consistent, smooth and uniform. IntraLase allows us to further
customize the procedure for each individual patient and eye.
Due to its more consistent accuracy, IntraLase may make LASIK
a viable option for patients who previously didn't qualify.
IntraLase provides further improvement in safety and precision,
while providing predictably better visual results for patients."
Since opening its doors in 1990, IMAGE PLUS has invested in
new lasers, testing and diagnostic equipment, and advanced treatment
technologies allowing the surgeons to treat a wider range of
vision problems and offer laser vision correction to an every-widening
base of prospective patients.
